highlights since September pt 3

On September 25th, one day after Lennon's 10th birthday, we had his Arrow of Light ceremony. I've been the assistant Webelos leader since April and it's been a lot of fun (and kind of special) to be able to work with Lennon (despite the look on my face in the first picture).


The actual Webelos leader, Br. Monson (no relation to Thomas S.--that I know of) does this ceremony that begins with shooting an arrow into a target.



He then tells a story of some indian boys who go out in an attempt to hike to and then climb a tall mountain. They are asked to go as far as they can and then bring back a branch of a tree to show how far they have gone. The boy that makes it to the top of the mountain is the boy who has earned his arrow of light and is ready for boy scouts.

He then walks across a bridge from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts.



He shares some of the glory with his mother,


but gets to keep the arrow for himself.
