Abby's Piano Recital

Tonight was Abby's first piano recital. It was held at her teacher Angela Karren's home. Abby said she wasn't nervous at all she was just excited. She was bouncing off the walls before we left the house.
When we got there Abby sat in the front row. She was very calm here (probably because she had butterflies in her stomach). Abby looked so pretty. We curled her hair and she got a new dress for the occasion.

Abby did such a great job. For her performance she played Aulette. This was actually taken after the performance because we didn't want to freak her out during her performance. Her teacher Angela played in the performance with her. I was so proud of her I got a little choked up. She was so dainty looking and sounded great.

Summer Reading

We started the Summer Reading program at the Library on Saturday. I took the kids to the Library for the kick off party. The kids decorated cupcakes and painted book ends. Lennon also played Rockband. For the program there are different kinds of things to do on the list besides reading like watch a movie you checked out from the library, ask a librarian an question, recommend a book to a librarian, listen to an audio book etc. We checked out an audio book called "The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy" by Jeanne Birdsall. We started it in the car and enjoyed every minute of it. We like it so much we wanted to hear it in the house. We really enjoyed this book and recommend it to all our friends and family.

Folsom Lake

Bill has been doing a 10k trail race series at Folsom Lake--Beals Point and Negro Bar. This week we were able to go with him. When we got there the race wasn't being held there that week. Oops. We made the best of it. Bill still went running and the kids and I hung out at the lake for a little while. The kids had a lot of fun. First they wanted to be like daddy and race. They ran to the lifeguard station.

We weren't planning on swimming or anything, but the kids all went under the water in their clothes. They were surprised when I told them they could do it. I said "you guys can go swimming in your clothes if you want." They said "really?" They were so excited. They thought it was super cool.

Meghan's having a good time. My little beach baby.

Wow everyone is getting along and having fun with each other. No fighting at all.
After the kids got soaked they were cold and wanted to go sit in the car where it was warm. Good thing I brought jackets for everyone. They stripped down to their skibbies and put on their jackets and we all waited for dad. A surprisingly good day.

A Fun Day at Grandma's

One day last week Leah was at our mom's house and invited us over. We made it into a party at mom's. She bought Papa Murphy's for dinner and the kids went swimming in the wading pool. They had a great time. For some reason I don't have a picture of all of the kids. Just the kids by the pool at the time I actually got my camera out and managed to snap a few pictures.

A Day at the Zoo

Meghan and I took off yesterday to the Sacramento Zoo. Meghan has been wanting to go and "dee all da animals". I was thinking to myself that I really need to take her before the kids get out of school. With two days left we finally did. We had such a great time. Meghan at first was afraid to see the Lions. She did not want to see them at all. She finally did.

We had a lot of fun taking walking around looking at all the animals at her pace. Talking about he aimals and what they were doing. We got to touch a wisker from the tiger. We had fun playing on the playground and sharing a soda.

Lennon's Field Trip to Science Day at the State Capitol

Lennon had a field trip to Science Day at the State Capitol. I believe it was for 4-6th graders. There were exhibits from all over California from the different departments that use science.

They had a great performance from MadScience. Lennon caught a fish at the Department of Fish and Game exhibit (he was the only one we saw catching a fish). Some other notable exhibits were about stopping the spreading of diseases from farm to farm. Exhibits that talked about dumping waste in the water systems, we got to dig like archelogists, look at bugs, plants all kinds of things.
Me, Lennon and Meghan rode the light rail for the first time. It was crazy. A good day.
